Gaul Wood, Winner of the 12:50 Lingfield

Gaul Wood made his second start for Star Sports at Lingfield this afternoon. After a promising debut last August when he came second at Wolverhampton, he picked up an injury so it was pleasing to see him return.

Tom Dascombe found a very weak race for him at Lingfield in a median auction maiden and with just five runners going to post, Gaul was sent off 1/7 favourite. Despite looking a touch uneasy coming down the hill, probably because he was so fresh after five months off, Gaul went on to stamp his authority on the race and win easily.

All of us at Star Sports now hope that Gaul can go on to better things with one eye on Royal Ascot!
