FA Cup, Darts etc
Right, the liver has just about recovered from the many festivities and it’s now back to the real world (unfortunately). Firstly I’d like to congratulate myself on tipping a couple of winners in the Q.P.R and Sheffield United matches in the previous betting blog. There’ll be a lot of going over my winners and not mentioning the losers! Haha.
FA Cup Gambling Advice
This weekend sees the start of our beloved cup competition – the FA Cup. This is where David slays Goliath on a regular basis. Firstly, let’s get the AP big bets out of the way. With both Manchester heavyweights playing each other in the 3rd round there really are chances elsewhere. However, rather boringly I’m going for one of the front 4. I’ll be backing Tottenham @ 8/1. They’re a fantastic team and how they’re a whole two points bigger than a very poor Chelsea team I do not know!
The other team I’ll be backing is Southampton e/w @ 150/1. They’re flying high and should progress against a terrible Coventry side. If they get any home ties no one will fancy a trip to St Mary’s. The Saints have been deadly there the last couple of seasons. With a bit of luck I think they can string a good run together.
Of the 3rd round ties, the potential upsets I have down are Gillingham at home to Stoke and Charlton away at Fulham. Back both of these teams at a whopping 100/30 and 9/2 draw no bet. I can see these at the very least going to a replay.
Another gem of value not to be sniffed at is Ipswich away at Hull @ 4/1. Yes, 4/1. I know Ipswich are having a tough time this season and Hull are flying high, but the championship is super competitive and 4/1 about a team with some very decent players in it is just too big.
Darts Gambling Advice
The next part of my blog focuses on another of my sporting loves – Darts! After the wonders of the PDC world champs (Wadey, why didn’t you just close out!) it can be a case of after the Lord Mayor’s show. The BDO has some very skilled and entertaining professionals.
This year could see a repeat of last year’s final. I know it’s boring but I can’t see “Wolfie” aka Martin Adams not progressing to the final. He has a lovely draw with all the minefields I’m about to put up on the other side! He’s 4/1.
One of those minefields is Dean Winstanley @ 11/2. He’ll be making the switch to the PDC soon no doubt and he would love to go there with a BDO championship under his belt. The other two are outside chances. The first is my favourite all time player…..Ted “The Count” Hankey. I even own a pair of Ted Hankey darts! If good Ted turns up then 14/1 is a monster price for a player who played well in the grand slam of darts and who on his day is by far the best player in the tournament. The other player is Willy Van De Wiel @ 16/1. Quite simply he’s Dutch and due a run!
In other news I’m still chasing that elusive 180 in my room. Sad I know but I managed a 135, my closest attempt yet. I’ve also checked out an 82 on the bull. Give me 5 years and it will be me and the housemate at the Lakeside!
Over and out.
