Humana Challenge Gambling Advice
The PGA Tour moves to the mainland this week after a couple of weeks in Hawaii. Formerly known as the Bob Hope Classic this week’s event is a pro-am tournament played at three different courses in La Quinta, Florida.
Former president Bill Clinton’s involvement with the sponsoring foundation has persuaded a few more of the tour’s stars to turn out for an event that is usually on the weak side.
Big Bet 1 – Brian Gay
Current odds 35/1
That being the case some may not be fully tuned up and we are putting up a player who has already begun the season well in the shape of Brian Gay.
Gay finished sixth in this event last year with a final round 62 and also placed sixth in last week’s Sony Open in Hawaii. Not scared of winning, and by big margins, as his two wins in 2009 demonstrated, the ability to go low will be a major asset around these tracks.
Gay finished 4th in driving accuracy on tour last year and if he continues in the same vain around the easier layouts at La Quinta he will present himself with plenty of birdie opportunities.
Big Bet 2 – Chris Couch
Current odds 200/1
Our second pick this week is Florida resident Chris Couch.
Despite having only won once on tour so far, Couch appeared on plenty of leaderboards last season and we think his time is not too far away.
He opened last season with a 7th place finish in this event and 3 top tens in his first five starts.
Although his season stuttered considerably after that he stilled showed glimpses of what he can do and if he is ready to go after a 3 month layoff he may be able to claim his second tour title.
Couch’s length off the tee will serve him well and we can see him murdering the par 5s. As long as his mid-short iron play is up to scratch he should be around to play a major role on Sunday.
