Tommy’s Weekly Greyhound Review
This week’s betting blog focusses on the Primus Telecom Puppy Derby at Henlow which gets under way this evening with six heats live on Racing Post Greyhound TV digital 231.
All eyes will be on antepost favourite Coolavanny Bert who is 1/5 to win his heat tonight and as short as 6/4 to win the competition! This greyhound is entitled to be as short priced as he is after making an impressive start to his career contesting in the Coral Sussex Puppy Trophy where he was an unlucky runner up after completely missing his break.
His most impressive performance to date came in a trail stakes for this competition last week winning by no less than 5 ½ lengths in 27.10 (calculated) on a very slow track due to rain.
Anyone looking for an each way alternative antepost bet I would recommend Taylors Ace who is available at 16/1. This son of Black Shaw and trained by no other than Charlie Lister only made his debut last week where is showed a lot of pace but due to his lack of track craft he managed to run into trouble when about to deliver his challenge. I feel that he would have learnt a lot from that experience and will go on to be a greyhound to watch out for in the future.
Big Bet of the Week
My big bet of the week runs at Hove this evening also live on Greyhound TV. I am very bullish about the chances of Farloe Iceman who runs in the 9.06. This September 2009 greyhound is very lightly raced for his age only having seven races in his career winning five of them. The highlight of his career was when he went through the Caffreys Puppy Classic at Nottingham unbeaten winning the final in very easily by four lengths.
I think he is banker material at the current price of 11/8 offered by Coral. GET ON!
