Volvo Champions Gambling Advice

The European Tour stays in South Africa for a third consecutive week with the Volvo Champions at Fancourt.

The format for qualification for this event has changed and this year sees only a select 35 players competing compared to a full field event last season.

The market is dominated by South African Major winners in the shape of Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Retief Goosen and Ernie Els but. with the exception of Oosthuizen (Africa Open winner this year). the others are in no real form to shout about.

Big Bet 1 – Pablo Larrazabal

Current odds 40/1

For my idea of the winner I am looking to young Spaniard Pablo Larrazabal.

Larrazabal is now a more accomplished player than the youngster who won the French Open a few years ago and is regularly in contention these days. Last year saw him gain his second tour win in the BMW International Open alongside 5 other top ten finishes.

He closed last season with a couple of top tens in the Dunlop Phoenix in Japan and the season ending Dubai World Championship, although a missed cut in Hong Kong was sandwiched between. If he brings his a game to Fancourt and adjust to the links layout he will be a major player.

Big Bet 1 – Nicolas Colsaerts

Current odds 33/1

Our second selection for the Volvo is Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts.

A massively improved player in recent times it took him ten years to finally break his duck with victory in last year’s China Open. That victory was a timely boost for the Belgian and he kicked on with 3rd place finishes in the Volvo World Match and Scottish Open and a ninth place finish in the Dunhill Links Championship, proving his ability to play all courses and more importantly links.

Now a fully established member of the European Tour, I fully expect Colsaerts to win again and it could be in South Africa this week.
