Hong Kong – Putting UK Racing to Shame
One project I’ve started on in the office is betting on Hong Kong racing to try to take advantage of any ricks on the Tote where horses might be over bet by the local punters. It’s early days and there’s nothing to report yet.
However, one thing I have noticed is the vast amount of info available on Hong Kong racing. The entire Hong Kong Jockey club website is free to access for anyone with information on everything. There is full sectional timing, speed and pace maps, detailed information on draw biases, full explanations on stewards enquiries, free videos and even still photographs from the races. It would be impossible to process every nugget of information! Compare this to the UK where we have very limited information and you have to register/pay for even slightly more than a standard racecard.
In addition, all gallops are public and timed publically as well as their being an incredibly strict policy on non triers and jockeys who don’t achieve the best possible placing are punished very severely with bans into the months if not years.
Have a look at it for yourself, it’s easy to see why so many horses are being bought to race out there, punters may well follow too soon enough:
