Four rides at Ascot on Saturday.
SPRING LOADED (1.50pm)
Back to scene of his course and distance success of a valuable handicap in July which came on fast ground and if he’s in the same kind of form should hopefully give me a good spin. He’s since finished sixth in the Stewards’ Cup at Glorious Goodwood where he found plenty of trouble in the run and also met with interference last time out when fifth in the Great St Wilfrid Handicap at Ripon. A drop back back in trip and some better luck should hopefully see us go close.
DREAM OF DREAMS (3.00pm Bengough Stakes)
Is doing very little wrong and I’ve finished second on him in his latest two races – a Group 2 at Newbury and a Group 3 at Goodwood where he only got collared close home. He’s got some form on faster ground too and hopefully he can gain some reward for his consistency in what looks quite an open Group 3. Limato is back in form after two wins in Listed company and might our the biggest danger.
ESCOBAR (3.35pm Bet With Ascot Challenge Cup)
Really tough seven furlong handicap as indeed it should be for this valuable race. My fella has got plenty of experience now in these big handicaps at Ascot. He didn’t run badly for me at Haydock last time out when third but hopefully the faster ground here will be more to his liking.
Makes a quick reappearance after finishing fifth at Salisbury on Wednesday. Needs to find some of his old sparkle to feature here, as he has a few younger and more in form rivals to contend with.
