DAVY RUSSELL: Galway Festival Sunday

The final day of Galway and the ground remains on the soft side. I’ve three planned rides on Sunday’s card.

SUNDAY

GALWAY FESTIVAL

LIZZIES CHAMP (2.45pm)

Has been knocking on the door without winning but with a bit of luck today hopefully he can get his head in front. He’s got winning form on both good and heavy ground and also experience of this course when fourth last October. He was only beaten a neck over this trip in June and a reproduction of that effort should hopefully see him go close.

SUB LIEUTENANT (4.30pm)

Having his second start of the week here having finished an excellent fifth in the Galway Plate on Wednesday. He’s a lovely horse and a real classy performer who continues to run big races in the top company. This looks very competitive but he comes into it with every chance.

THREE WISE MEN (5.00pm)

I ride him for the first time for Henry de Bromhead. He was a winner at the Galway Festival last year and has run well at Gowran Park since when the going was testing. He should come into this a fresh horse after a short break but it looks very competitive with several having their second Galway starts of the week.
