Manchester United may no longer be in the doldrums that blighted their season, but Juventus looked on a different level when they visited Old Trafford a fortnight ago and it’s no surprise that they’re a short price to do the double.

The final score read just 1-0 but they won the shots on target count 5-2 and the corner count 6-2 whilst dominating possession – they had 10 shots on target to United’s one during the first 45 when United were simply left chasing shadows.

Since then, United have won both their games in the Premier League, getting past Everton thanks to a brilliant strike form Antony Martial and then staging a typical late comeback against Bournemouth when even Jose Mourinho could not deny his luck. Marcus Rashford bundled home the winner in second-half stoppage time to earn United all three points but United had been fortunate to still be in the game at half time and his admission that “The score should have been like 6-2,” said a lot.

Juventus have dropped points just once this entire season, that thanks to a lapse in concentration against Genoa before the reverse fixture. However, there was no such slip up at the weekend, with a 3-1 win over Caligari to make it 10 domestic wins, and their wealth of talent – including Cristiano Ronaldo of course – is operating beautifully. Paolo Dybala, who scored the only goal two weeks ago, has six goals this season whilst Douglas Costa and Rodrigo Bentancur can also inject pace into proceedings.

United have the ability to strike a blow on the counter thanks to the sharp shooting of Antony Martial and Marcus Rashford now they are getting extended runs in the side, but they are up against one of the best defences in world football with Leonardo Bonucci and Georgio Chiellini anchoring the defence.

Juventus are short at 4/7 but deserve their favouritism. The best way to play a game which doesn’t have huge value in it might be to back Juventus to lead at half time and full time; United have conceded first-half goals in their last three away matches, and Juventus have led at the break in four of their last five games.
