STAR PREVIEW: Man U v FC Basel

Published On September 12, 2017 | Star Event

Veritable feast of Group stage Champions League action tonight with UK interest from Man U, Chelsea and Celtic.

The treble on Man U, Chelsea and PSG beating Celtic only weighs in at around 8/11 so we will need to did deeper to find value.

Easy to take for granted but TV viewers really are spoilt for choice with BT Sport offering all eight Champions League games live tonight so you pays yer money and really do take yer choice.

For me, I’ll stick with the action at Old Trafford. It’s the third time the teams have met in the Group stages of the Champions League and it certainly hasn’t been straight forward for the Red Devils against the Swiss side. It’s one win apiece and two draws from the four games to date.

Man U, back in the Champions League for the first time since 2015 via their Europa Cup win last season will also face Benfica and CSKA Moscow in Group A.

Man U manager Jose Mourinho said: “Being back in the Champions League is going back to the natural habitat.

“Manchester United have been there season after season.

“For some players there’s the motivation of playing in it for the first time, so we look forward to the match and I hope also Old Trafford feels it in the same way we are feeling.”

For tonight their side will be weakened as they are likely to be without Marouane Fellaini who picked up a calf injury in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Stoke.

Tonight’s opponents Basel are on a wretched run of Champions League form. They are winless in their last 10 Champions League games (D4 L6), their longest drought in the competition.

Rashford and Martial can both be backed at around 6/5 with Star Sports and (famous last words) I think it’s a bet to nothing.

Cannot see one of them not getting on the scoresheet and with any luck we’ll get the bonus and profit of them both netting.

It’s 6 points win on each.
