EURO 2024 PREVIEW Tues: Netherlands v Austria

Netherlands will be grateful that they have already assured a spot in the knockout rounds of EURO 2024 as they face a tough test against Austria in their last group match, writes JOE CITRONE.

After a slender victory over Poland in their opening match of the tournament was followed up with a decent point over current starsports outright winner favourites France in their second game, Netherlands know that – no matter what happens against Austria – they will be heading to the last-16 of EURO 2024.

They are still in with a chance of topping their group, though, and will want to end the group stage in style as they prepare for the next stage of this competition.

Austria more than held their own against France in their opening game of the tournament and then backed it up with a pivotal 3-1 win against Poland in their second match.

This means that, in all likelihood, Ralf Rangnick’s side would need just a point to be sure of a spot in the last-16 of the competition with the worst-case scenario being they go through as one of the best third-placed sides.

With a draw being enough for the Netherlands to finish in the top-two and enough for Austria to all-but ensure they go through to the next stage of the competition, it’s a result that seems to suit both sides. At 9/4 with starsports.bet, I will be backing the draw here.
