STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Mon: Burnley v Leeds

The Championship title race will take another turn this evening when Burnley host Leeds at Turf Moor, writes WILLIAM KEDJANYI.

The visitors arrive as league leaders with 59 points from their 28 matches, and the hosts are third, just three points behind in a four-way title battle with Sheffield United and Sunderland also aiming for one of the two coveted automatic promotion slots.

Under Scott Parker Burnley have built a title challenge using their rock-solid defence as their foundation, with only two defeats all season, both of them away from Turf Moor. They’ve sometimes struggled to find the finishing touch – they’ve failed to score in 10 games this season – but a 5-0 trashing of Plymouth should have built up confidence for today’s assignment.

Leeds will have an almighty challenge trying to break down the Clarets’ rearguard – they’ve conceded an incredible nine goals in 28 championship games, the joint fewest ever at this stage of an EFL season along with Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side – and in James Trafford, they have one of the best keepers in the division.
