GEORGE BOUGHEY: Weekend Preview

We are building up towards a big couple of days at Newmarket next weekend with the unbeaten Bow Echo set to be supplemented for the Royal Lodge Stakes, Hilitany set to run in the Middle Park Stakes and there is the possibility that we’ll run Awaken in the Rockfel Stakes after Salisbury did not go to plan at all as we think she is much better than that, writes GEORGE BOUGHEY.

We are set to give them a racecourse gallop at Newmarket this weekend.

FRIDAY

AYR

RADIANCE – 1:28pm Ayr

Radiance wasn’t quite right at Salisbury and just didn’t look like she had before her debut. She’s trained very well into this and I’ve always had her high up the pecking order. It’s a big weight to carry, but I’d rather do that than give weight away in a novice. I think she’ll be very hard to beat.

AMORIM – 1:58pm Ayr

Ripon was a complete mess – I shouldn’t have run him there. He’s the longest-striding horse we’ve recorded on our data and just hit every ridge on that track. A kinder surface should let him use his stride and go forward. The ground is a question mark as he hasn’t run on anything this slow, but he’s in great form and I hope he can bounce back.

SATURDAY

NEWMARKET

TRYST – 1:00pm Newmarket

She ran in the bog at Goodwood which, in hindsight, I wish we hadn’t done, but it was a big day for Highclere and the experience wasn’t lost on her. She’s had a break, her work has been good, and I see no reason why she can’t run a nice race.

TUESDAYS CHILD – 1:35pm Newmarket

I ran her back too quickly after her victory on her stable debut and this is now her turf debut for us. She’s trained nicely and although it’s a higher grade, it’s good to try her on her doorstep. If she handles the track, there are some nice races for her later in the autumn.

INNS OF FEAR – 3:20pm Newmarket

He was disappointing at Chester and didn’t seem to enjoy the track. He’s on a retrieval mission and will be tried over six furlongs here for the first time since the start of the year.

LA SCANDERBEIDE – 5:05pm Newmarket

She found it hard after winning on debut, especially carrying a penalty. The all-weather run last time was messy and she never got into it. Back up a furlong here and in what looks the right slot, she’s capable of running well. Henry Callan – Jack’s younger brother – is a very good young rider at just 16. Fingers crossed they can run a big race.

SATURDAY

NEWBURY

DANTE’S LAD – 2:40pm Newbury

He’s been a fun horse this year. He stood on a toe clip at Goodwood and was pulled up, but was fine afterwards and bounced straight back at York in a competitive race. Jack Callan gets a big ride here in a big handicap. He’s nicely drawn, stays the trip well and if the quick back-up doesn’t affect him, I think he can run very well. He wouldn’t want too much rain, but he did handle good-to-soft at York according to Billy Loughnane.

SATURDAY

AYR

INDIA LOVE – 3:00pm Ayr

It looks a strong renewal of the Firth Of Clyde, but I wanted to keep her against her own sex rather than run her in the Harry Rosebery. It’s her first time over six, but they’ll go a good gallop which will suit her. If she stays, she can step forward again. She wasn’t quite right after her third win but showed real toughness carrying weight that day. We’re hoping she can pick up some black type.

Best Chance of the Weekend: Radiance
