PRESS RELEASE: Rayner makes charge in next Labour leader betting

Rayner 4/1 from 16/1 within two months; Streeting narrow fav at 10/3

Star Sports have reported significant movement in their next Labour leader market, with Angela Rayner rising through the ranks.

Rayner, who was as long as 16/1 after her cabinet exit, has shortened back into 4/1 second-favourite to replace Keir Starmer should he be removed from his position.

Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Wes Streeting still remains the frontrunner at 10/3.

William Kedjanyi, Political Betting Analyst at Star Sports, said: “With scandals and crises everywhere you look, it seems as though Keir Starmer’s days at 10 Downing Street are numbered and it’s become a case of when, not if, he leaves office. With speculation rife over a leadership challenge, there have been some big changes in our next Labour Leader market.

“Wes Streeting (10/3) has been leading the market for some time, however Angela Rayner has slowly seen her price cut from 16/1 – her highest price after the stamp duty fiasco – and now sits second in the betting at 4/1 as a result of leadership speculation.

“There have been many sources suggesting that she could take a run at Labour leadership and it’s no surprise to see her charging up the market to challenge Streeting at the top. Rayner has always been popular amongst both the Parliamentary party and the membership, who will have the final say in any leadership contest, and she’d take a lot of beating if she was to run.”
