HARRY SKELTON: Cheltenham & Doncaster Saturday

It was great to win another nice prize at Cheltenham with Fortune de Mer, and we’ve got some nice chances at Cheltenham and Doncaster on Saturday, writes HARRY SKELTON.

CHELTENHAM

SATURDAY

ARNOLPHE – 12.10pm Cheltenham

He’s making his racecourse debut and we’ve done lots of work with him at home. We’ll see how we fare – we’re starting at the high end, but if he puts in a good round of jumping, we’ll be satisfied. He’ll hopefully show some promise, but we think this big, galloping track will be nice for him to get things going.

THEONEWEDREAMOF – 1.15pm Cheltenham

She won nicely last time out at Exeter and stayed on well. She knows this track and has run well here before. She’s in good form so we’re hoping she’ll be bang there.

HOE JOLY SMOKE – 1.50pm Cheltenham

He ran well in the Paddy Power last time out and comes here with a nice, light racing weight. He’s in good form and hopefully the door will open for him soon. He ticks a lot of boxes and I actually think this track will really suit him. He should be competitive.

COUNTRY MILE – 2.25pm Cheltenham

He’s had a bit of a break since his last run, as he just didn’t quite feel as good as he had before. We’ve given him some time off to freshen up again and he looks nicely weighted heading into this handicap. He’s in a competitive race but he’s won here over hurdles before so hopefully he can replicate that form. In an ideal race they’d go a good gallop and that should set the race up nicely for him.

CARLENRIG & BIG CADILLAC – 3.00pm Cheltenham

I take the ride on Carlenrig, who ran really well first time out at Chepstow and he’s come on nicely since then. Conman John looks the one to beat but the three-mile trip should suit us here and hopefully he’ll run well. He’s a chaser in the making.

As is Big Cadillac. He ran well at Ffos Las last time out and the form of that race has worked out well. He stays well and is in good form, there’s nothing between the two of them. We’re expecting them both to run well, and I’m sure you’ll be seeing both of them over fences further down the line.

NURSE SUSAN – 3.35pm Cheltenham

She’s in great form. She (below, left) had a run up at Carlisle which has brought her on plenty. Jubilee Alpha is top-weight and looks the one to beat but we’re really happy with our mare. The track, trip and ground will be no problem so she goes there with a chance.

DONCASTER

SATURDAY

REAL QUARTZ – 11.55am Doncaster

He won nicely last time out at Carlisle and is a nice horse. He looks to stay well so the step up in trip won’t be an issue. He looks to be a chaser further down the line, but he should run well and we expect him to be competitive.

JOYEUX MACHIN & PRINCE ZALTAR – 2.05pm Doncaster

Joyeux Machin has been knocking on the door in handicap hurdles this season and has some form over fences so we’re taking him chasing again. Harry [Atkins] takes seven pounds off which gives him a good chance, and he looks to be competitively handicapped. We hope fences can spark a return to his best.

We also run Prince Zaltar, who goes over fences again. He’s got a nice racing weight, too, and he stays well so both of ours have decent each-way chances.

KATEIRA – 2.40pm Doncaster

She’s been running well this season and this is another opportunity for her to show us what she can do. She had a good run at Ascot last time out and I think she’s the one to beat here.
