STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Sun: Crystal Palace v Tottenham

A fiery festive affair is expected this afternoon when Crystal Palace face Tottenham this afternoon, writes WILLIAM KEDJANYI.

It’s not been a joyous festive season for either of the two sides. Palace were knocked out of the EFL Cup at Arsenal on Tuesday, having lost 4-1 at Leeds the weekend before, whilst Spurs were taken apart 3-0 at Nottingham Forest before losing a frantic encounter with Liverpool when they ended the game with nine men last week.

The strain of an incredibly busy festive season is showing on a small squad, even one with the talent at Oliver Glasner’s disposal. Their late December run has seen them concede 10 goals in their last four games, a number that would be much higher if not for an exceptional goalkeeping display by their backup at the Emirates in midweek.

Chris Richards (foot), Daniel Munoz (knee), Daichi Kamada (hamstring), Ismaila Sarr (international duty), and Cheick Doucoure (knee) all miss this game for the hosts, who don’t make any appeal at the match prices with starsports.bet.

However, neither do a Spurs side that is now missing Xavi Simons and Cristian Romero following red cards in a feisty encounter against Liverpool. Thomas Frank, under fire from large sections of the support, has injury and absence problems of his own with Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma at AFCON and James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Destiny Udogie, and Dominic Solanke all absent, although he will be pleased that they shaded the xG count against Liverpool last week when showing more attacking threat despite being down a man.

Neither side makes much appeal at the odds, and the goals markets make the most appeal. Crystal Palace’s only clean sheet in six games has come against Shelbourne in the Conference League, and Spurs have managed just two in their last nine games, so the 17/20 on over 2.5 goals with starsports.bet makes the most appeal.
