NORTH LONDON DERBY

STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Sun: Tottenham v Arsenal

Every North London Derby is important for Arsenal and Tottenham, but it’s hard to imagine a more important one than this Super Sunday meeting in North London, writes WILLIAM KEDJANYI.

Arsenal, now out to 4/6 for the title with starsports.bet desperately need to get back to winning ways after a stuttering run that has given impetus to Manchester City, whose win against Newcastle has put them just two points behind the Gunners today. Tottenham are in a very different fight – the threat of relegation has to be taken seriously as they are just four points ahead of West Ham, who have turned a corner in recent weeks, in 18th.

To stay up they’ve sacked Thomas Frank, whose departure was inevitable by the end of his tenure, with Igor Tudor, a veteran of short-term fixes who has rescued Udinese, Verona and Juventus in Italy. Spurs will be hoping that his experiences in Italy and at Marseille, Galatasaray and Hajduk Split translate well to England – Spurs are on an eight-game winless run and have a long injury list.

Arsenal’s recent North London Derby record is exemplary – including the 4-1 victory in the reverse fixture at the Emirates – but they have struggled with the pressure of City’s recent charge in the Premier League and have won just two of their last seven Premier League games.

A score draw at Brentford is a respectable result considering their home record (albeit it’s one that’s a net loss to City) but losing a 2-0 lead at Wolves in agonizing fashion has the potential to leave a lasting mental scar and facing a Spurs side with a potential new manager bounce will is arguably the biggest stress test of their season so far.

Fingers have been pointed at various factors for the Gunners’ struggles – plenty have suggested that the Gunners should play through the middle more, whilst many fans are hoping that Kai Havertz returns to the fray very soon – to but a price of 4/7 with starsports.bet makes no appeal at all given the circumstances and the 7/5 on Tottenham with the double chance looks overpriced in what is likely to be a nervous and chaotic encounter for both sides.

Arsenal are known for defensive prowess but they have conceded in nine of their last 13 away games, including twice at Sunderland, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Chelsea and Wolves, so Tottenham should feel hopeful of getting on the scoresheet and the 5/6 on both teams scoring with starsports.bet is likely to be popular alongside over 2.5 goals, but taking on the Gunners might be the best value here.
