HARRY SKELTON: Weekend Debrief & Aintree Preperations

I was on the sidelines last weekend due to a ban I picked up at Cheltenham, writes HARRY SKELTON.

We still had a few runners at Uttoxeter and Stratford on Saturday but unfortunately failed to come away with a winner. Sunray Shadow, who was upped in trip to three miles for the first time, and Notnowlinda, wearing first-time cheekpieces, looked to run reasonable races to both finish in the frame.

Aintree preparations…

We could do with a bit of rain at the moment, as we’ve still got quite a few horses left to run.

The horses still seem to be in good form and it’s not long now until Aintree, so we’re looking forward to that.

The team for Aintree look in good order, and we’re taking some fresh horses there which I think is really beneficial at this time of year.

Protektorat missed Cheltenham and is fresh and well.

Some of our horses that ran at Cheltenham will be running again at Aintree.

Panic Attack now will definitely get a run in the Grand National as number 34. She’s in great form and we’re very happy with her.

Maestro Conti has come out of the Triumph Hurdle really well. Grey Dawning, The New Lion, Bossman Jack and Soldier Reeves are also all pencilled in for Aintree.

This week…

We’re heading up to Haydock for some series finals races this Saturday. These races are worth plenty of money, so it’s nice to have a few horses qualified for them.

Blue Carpet is entered in a three-mile hurdle race. Ice In The Veins and Soleil d’Arizona are both pencilled in for a two-mile final, while Le Milos could run in a middle-distance final.
