EZE HAS SPRING IN HIS STEP
Arsenal scraped past Newcastle to go back to the top of the Premier League thanks to Eberechi Eze’s sublime strike.
Eze later hobbled off and the Gunners will be praying his injury is not serious as he really comes into his won at the business end of the season.
Almost half of Eze’s 39 Premier League goals for Crystal Palace and Arsenal combined have come in the final eight games of the season.
He also bagged the winner at Wembley for Palace against Manchester City in last season’s FA Cup final so it is not just the daffodils that bloom in the spring.

FOMO FOR FODEN
No wonder Phil Foden looked to forlorn after being hauled off before the hour mark in Manchester City’s FA Cup semi-final victory over plucky Southampton.
Making his first City start in six weeks, this was Foden’s chance to show Pep Guardiola he can play a big part in City’s treble chase.
But the PFA Player of the Year of two years ago failed to make any notable impact on the game and it was only once he went off that City looked like putting Saints to the sword.
Thomas Tuchel was not there to see Foden’s Wembley no-show in person, opting to watch Morgan Rogers and Eberechi Eze instead.
On form it is hard to make a case for Foden being part of Tuchel’s England World Cup squad.
WILSON BACK FROM THE COLD TO ENSURE HAMMERS NOT CAST AWAY
It was not that long ago that Callum Wilson was on the brink of tearing up his West Ham contract to leave on a free transfer.
Hammers fans are grateful he stayed after coming off the bench to score what could be their most important goal of the season to beat Everton.
Before Wilson’s stoppage time strike the Eastenders were dropping back below Tottenham into the relegation zone.
Wilson has now scored eight times in his last nine appearances against Everton, and when you really need a goal there are few finishers in the Premier League as deadly.
KINSKY SPURS’ UNLIKELY HERO
Tottenham fans are daring to dream of a relegation Great Escape after finally winning their first league game of 2026.
It wasn’t pretty but who knows how important Joao Palhinha’s scruffy late winner at bottom club Wolves will turn out to be?
Just as vital was a last-minute save from Antonin Kinsky to keep out Joao Gomes’s 25-yard free kick
It was a moment of redemption for Kinsky after being humiliatingly hooked by previous Spurs boss Igor Tudor during the first leg of their Champions League last 16 defeat to Atletico Madrid.
You would have to be a very bitter person not to be pleased for the young goalkeeper.
WOODMAN KOPS IT
Continuing the theme of unlikely goalkeeping heroes, Freddie Woodman had the best day of his career in Liverpool’s 3-1 win at home to Crystal Palace.
More than 100 appearances for Preston aside, Woodman has been somewhat of a journeyman.
But he got his moment in the sun thanks to injuries to both of Liverpool’s other senior stoppers.
Woodman made a series of impressive saves to earn Liverpool a crucial three points in the race for a Champions League place.
Even regular Reds number 1 Alisson was seen applauding from the stands as the Kop sung Woodman’s name.
It was even sweeter for the 29-year-old being a boyhood Palace fan.
