STAR GOLF PREVIEW: Cadillac Championship

We’re at Donnie’s place for the next stop on the PGA Tour, writes BLUE HORSESHOE.

Trump National Doral, Miami, is also known as The Blue Monster is the host course this week and it won’t surprise you to know that it’s a beast of a course with water all over the shop.

The Cadillac Championship is another one of the eight signature events held by the PGA Tour. These are limited field events, which I like because the fields are smaller, but there is still value lurking beneath the big names.

Blue Horsehshoe Loves:

Aldrich Potgieter – currently at ? with starsports.bet

This is a bombers course for those who are happy to open the shoulders and Aldrich is only too happy to oblige. He’s one of the longest drivers on tour and looks to be in good knick form wise, with a decent effort at the RBC Heritage in his last start. He was actually flirting with the lead for the first three rounds but had a shoddy final round to drop him out of the running. I’m backing him this week due to his recent form, the course fit, and his price which I think is great each way value in this limited field event.

Sam Burns – currently at ? with starsports.bet

Burns pushed Rory McIlroy all the way at the recent Masters. He looked to be driving it extremely well at Augusta and that will stand to him here. He’s statistically one of the best putters on tour, so I’m going to stick with Sammy to get that next PGA Tour win he feels so close to getting. He’s not much of a price, but I think he’ll be right in the mix come Sunday.

Nicco Echavarria – currently at ? with starsports.bet

Nicco is crazy money in this limited field event. He’s a recent winner and for mine he’s a better golfer than many others quoted under his price. As I’ve said since the beginning of the year, he’s someone who will go from strength to strength on tour. He’s since won a PGA Tour event, and I don’t think he’s done yet. At the very least he’s great value here each way, or for a top ten place.
