STAR GOLF PREVIEW Thurs: Wyndham Championship with BLUE HORSESHOE

A couple of near misses last week with Brennan and Gerard both hitting the front at different stages but ultimately being unable to hold on to their leads, writes BLUE HORSESHOE.

As the old saying goes on the PGA Tour; It’s tough to win out here. We did get Gerard for a place though, so we’ll take that and move on to this week.

Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, is one of the longest-running host courses on the PGA Tour. It’s a Donald Ross special, full of narrow dog leg fairways and small greens. Past winners are a cavalcade of superb ball strikers and short iron exponents.

This Par 70, 7131 Yard course is not a long walk, but it’s a tight demanding track and players have to be pin point accurate to avoid getting into trouble off the raised greens.

Blue Horseshoe Loves:

Ryan Gerard – currently at ? with starsports.bet

Gerard will be disappointed he didn’t get the job done last week. He seems to thrive around narrow demanding layouts, so I expect to see him right back in the mix this week and gunning for the win.

Mac Meissner – currently at ? with starsports.bet

Meissner finished second at this tournament last year and is a strong, accuracy based, iron player. He’s had a good season and gone close without winning. Coming back here will do him well and he could get that W.

Michael Brennan – currently at ? with starsports.bet

Brennan was leading going into the final round last week and he fell apart pretty spectacularly. I think he’ll learn a lot from that and get straight back into the saddle this week at a course that should suit him.

Austin Eckroat – currently at ? with starsports.bet

Eckroat has gone well here in the past. He gets out early doors before the winds pick up and I think he could post a good number. He’s any old money and looks fantastic each way value for me.
