Wolves welcome the Championship back to Molineux for the first time in nearly a decade, with Blackburn making the trip on the opening night of the new season, writes JOE CITRONE.

Eight years out of the second tier, and Wolves are desperate to hit the ground running. The good news is that they’ve kept the core of that Premier League squad intact, and on paper this is one of the strongest squads in the division.

The real intrigue is in the dugout. Rob Edwards was shown the door unexpectedly this summer, and it’s Cesar Peixoto, largely unproven in England, tasked with ridding Wolves of a losing culture and returning them to the top-flight at the first time of asking.
