STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Thurs: AFC Wimbledon v MK Dons

One of football’s fiercest rivalries is renewed on Thursday night as AFC Wimbledon take on MK Dons in League One, writes JOE CITRONE.

In 2003, Wimbledon FC’s owners controversially relocated the club from south London to Milton Keynes, with the team later renamed MK Dons in 2004.

The move was rejected by the majority of Wimbledon supporters, who had already formed AFC Wimbledon in 2002 and began their journey at the bottom of the football pyramid. The club eventually returned to a new Plough Lane, with the rivalry between AFC Wimbledon and MK Dons remaining rooted in the dispute over the original club’s identity and legacy.

That makes this game, whenever it comes around, one of the most fascinating in English football. As you’d expect, the two sets of fans don’t like each other very much, and this will be a tasty affair on Thursday night.

⭐️ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐️

MK Dons have only lost once since returning to League One, but are also still yet to win a league game, having drawn five of their opening six matches.

Wimbledon, on the other hand, find themselves in decent form in the early stages of this campaign despite many tipping them to struggle in pre-season. A 1-0 win over Doncaster Rovers in their last outing saw them rise to 7th in the League One table – just one place outside the play-off positions.

Despite the early struggles of Paul Warne’s side, scoring goals hasn’t really been their issue. In fact, heading into this fixture, they’ve actually scored one more goal than Wimbledon have. That’s why I like the look of a score draw at 7/2 with starsports.bet.
