ADAM KIRBY: Doncaster Saturday
Busy night for me at Doncaster with five rides on the card.
SATURDAY
DONCASTER
GET BACK GET BACK (5.10pm)
He’s back after a break and a wind op and I’m looking forward to being reunited with him. He won after a break last year and hopefully will continue to show the improvement he showed last season – he hasn’t got too many miles on the clock. He won for me at Kempton last November and this is now his first start on the turf.
JALAAD (6.15pm)
This looks a well above average contest on paper. My fella ran a great race at Lingfield on debut when second to Gaudi and a couple in behind have won since. We have to give weight away though, including to Sir Michael Stoute’s $600,000 newcomer Alkaraama.
AL JELLABY (6.45pm)
I know him well and he’s very consistent but yet to win in handicap company so may still be a tad high in the weights. He ran a cracker for me here in the Spring Mile last time out and should find this easier but he still has to prove himself over this kind of a trip.
SILCA MISTRESS (7.45pm)
Another ride for Clive (Cox) and she looks to have a fair chance in a very competitive handicap. She had a great 2018 winning four times on the turf and all-weather and is back after a break. My only concern would be that I don’t want to see much rain as all her wins have all come on good or better ground.
CRACKIN DREAM (8.25pm)
Looks the most competitive race of the night this class 5 handicap. My fella has blinkers on for the first time. The switch back to six furlongs should help and although he looks to need to find further improvement that shouldn’t be out of the question given he’s one of the least exposed runners in the race.
Good luck
