ADAM KIRBY: Doncaster Saturday

The curtain comes down on the turf season at Doncaster on Saturday and I have five booked cards on the card which gets underway early at 11.45am.

ELIGIBLE (12.20pm)

Has struggled in his two races to date at Newbury and Newmarket, those coming on soft and good ground respectively. He’s down in trip for this and hopefully that might help bring about an improved run.

He was beaten a fair way at Salisbury on debut but ran a bit better for me at Kempton last time out when fourth – showing he built on his first effort. Will undoubtedly need to improve again but hopefully he can show us he is heading the right way. It looks another typically open end of season maiden.

A pleasure to ride him for the first time. The ten-year-old is having his 75th start and has been a grand servant. He was sixth in this race last year and although only beating one home in a Group 2 at Newmarket last time out was still competitive at the furlong marker suggesting he still retains a fair level of ability.

SEA FOX (2.45pm)

Gave me a winner at Lingfield the last time I rode him in July. He followed up with a win at Newmarket where he appreciated the give in the ground – he didn’t show much at Leicester last time out when sixth of seven but the handicapper has dropped him 5lb and I think that’s he back at a level where he can be competitive again.

NOW CHILDREN (3.15pm Marathonbet November Handicap)

The quality of this race seems to get better every year and I’m hopeful that Now Children comes into this a relatively fresh horse in a race where several of his rivals have had busy campaigns. He impressed me when winning at Goodwood last time out and will appreciate any overnight rain. He’s up 6lb but still very progressive and I’m hoping he can be a leading player.

Good luck
