ADAM KIRBY: Lingfield/Kempton Saturday

Firstly a very Happy New Year to all readers. I’ve made a good start to 2019 with four winners including Apex Predator at Kempton on Friday. I have three rides at both Lingfield and Kempton on Saturday.

KING OF THE SAND (12.40pm)

I made all on him at Brighton to win in 2017 and hopefully he can put in a big effort in a very competitive opener. He’s gradually falling down the weights and is having his first start here at Lingfield. Forbidden Planet looks a likely danger on his first start for Roger Charlton – still looks unexposed.

Hasn’t won for a while but has generally been mixing it at a higher level and will hopefully get a little more involved in this class 3. That said though, it looks competitive with the hat-trick seeking Matterhorn the one that we all have to beat.

His two wins have come over shorter trips but he ran well for me over this trip last time out at Kempton when a length second to Kyllachy Dragon. He’s up 2lb for that run but can hopefully go close if in the same kind of form.

LORD GEORGE (6.15pm)

He’s got top weight in this class 2 which he won in grand style last year. He’s 8lb higher in the handicap 12 months on but seems to be running back into form and was a good third for me at Lingfield last time out.

Has been off the course for over a year on the flat but chased home the hot favourite Anemoi over hurdles at Doncaster last month so fitness shouldn’t be an issue.

HIGHWAY ONE (7.45pm)

Back after a short break and he’s down in the weights too. Ran well over course and distance two starts ago – I’m riding her for the first time here.

Good luck
