Just back from Lingfield where I had one winner on the card with Keyser Soze who quickened up nicely and he’s on for a hat-trick next time out.
Not so good news with Philamundo who won nicely for me at Chelmsford but he pulled too hard today and there was nothing left in the tank on the turn for home.
It’s been a good start to the year and I’m keen to have another crack at the All-Weather title.
It wasn’t my aim at the beginning of the season but the way things have worked out means I’m in a good position to try and win it for the fourth time. There’s plenty of good all-weather races coming up in the next few weeks including the Fast-Track Qualifiers which are always nice to win for connections.
I’ve got a full book of rides early next week but ahead of that it’s a quiet weekend with just two rides at Lingfield on Saturday but both look to have reasonable chances.
Just the six runners here but it looks wide open. My fella has top weight, I’ve ridden him a couple of times including last time out over course and distance when he was a three quarters of a length second to Merhoob. I’ve got a 2lb pull here with Merhoob so there should be little between the pair again. Every single one of them is a danger including Reflektor who popped up at a big price to win this last year.
Looks the most competitive race on the card so it’s not going to be easy. I’m riding the filly for the first time but she has plenty of form around around here – even though she remains a maiden in 12 starts. The handicapper has dropped her to a career low 53 and she wasn’t beaten far when fifth over course and distance last time out. If she’s in the same kind of form today hopefully we’ll go close.
