A good trip to Chelmsford on Friday night when both my rides won. Hopefully the form will continue into the weekend and I have three rides on Saturday on the evening card at Wolverhampton. I didn’t ride at Southwell’s first all-weather card under floodlights this week but it can only be good news that another track has lights. That just leaves Lingfield but I think they would struggle to get the planning permission for lights.
SALUTE THE SOLDIER (6.15pm)
Was in terrific form last season and I’m hoping he can continue where he left off now he has had a break. He only just failed to complete a hat-trick over this course and distance back in December. He’s now up 2lb in the handicap but remains progressive and I’m hopeful of a good spin. Matterhorn was chasing a five-timer at Kempton last time out and although sound beaten into second I wouldn’t dismiss his chances here as I think the horse that beat him, Matterhorn, is quite useful.
RAIL DANCER (7.45pm)
Closely matched with Singing The Blues who beat us by half a length at Kempton last time out. Seems to save his best form for Kempton and has yet to prove himself over this trip but hopefully he can get involved in what looks a really tight handicap.
GLOBAL PROSPECTOR (8.15pm)
Got a really nice pedigree and am looking forward to riding him for Clive (Cox) on his debut. This looks a good starting point for him and the Newcastle runner-up Wise Words sets a fair level to aim at.
