A nice start to a big week with Chagatai winning at Kempton this afternoon and I’m now York bound where I have one ride on the opening day – and it comes in the opening race of the Ebor Meeting !!
TIS MARVELLOUS (1.55pm)
Absolute cavalry charge to start the meeting with 20 runners over the five furlongs. I’m quite happy with stall 7 for my fella who tops the weights in this ultra-competitive handicap – the last three winners have been drawn 8-5-5.
He’s gone up 5lb for his win in the Shergar Cup Dash where he seemed to have plenty in hand and made up for a poor showing previously in the Stewards’ Cup.
This is his first trip to York but he’s well used to the hustle and bustle of a big field as he finished an excellent fourth in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot,
It’s impossible to be confident, as it’s a race of such fine margins but he arrives in great form and I wouldn’t want to be on anything else in the race.
