ALEX CROOK: Premier League Gameweek 11 Preview

talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent ALEX CROOK previews the upcoming weekend of Premier League action…

⚪ FULHAM v MANCHESTER UNITED 🔴

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

Embattled Erik ten Hag takes crisis club Manchester United to Fulham on Saturday in desperate need of a victory to ease the pressure on him that is beginning to build.

This is the start of a huge week for United, who unthinkably have lost eight of their first 15 games of the season, with the trip to Craven Cottage followed by a must-win Champions League game in Copenhagen on Wednesday.

As if last Sunday’s derby day drubbing at home to Manchester City was not enough, ten Hag’s men sunk to a new low by being thrashed 3-0 at the hands of Newcastle’s reserves in mid-week.

Shot-shy Fulham will fancy their chances of piling more misery on ten Hag after coming through a potentially tricky cup tie at Championship high-fliers Ipswich.

Given United’s terrible form, Fulham to win at 9/4 with starsports.bet looks a touch on the generous side and is probably a reflection of the fact the Cottagers have only managed to score nine goals in their ten Premier League games.

Raul Jimenez still hasn’t opened his account yet while Carlos Vinicius has managed only one league goal this season so I am looking at alternative options.

Andreas Pereira has not quite found the form he did last season, but would love a goal against his former club and I do not have any faith in United’s brittle defence to keep a clean sheet.

Pereira to score at any time is 4/1 with starsports.bet

When these two last met at Old Trafford in an FA Cup quarter final Fulham had two players sent off and if it gets feisty again, I think the tough-tackling Joao Palhinha to be shown a card at 13-10 with starsports.bet is a solid-looking option.

⚫ NEWCASTLE UNITED v ARSENAL 🔴

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

St James’s Park will be sizzling when Newcastle welcome Arsenal in a Bonfire Night eve firecracker of a contest on Saturday teatime.

The two teams experienced differing fortunes in the EFL Cup in mid-week with Newcastle running out comfortable winners at Manchester United, despite naming a second-string side, while Arsenal lost 3-1 at West Ham in a London derby.

Mikel Arteta’s decision to make wholesale changes backfired spectacularly and the Spaniard will restore the big guns like Declan Rice, captain Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka for this one.

The Gunners have an impressive recent record against Newcastle, losing only one of their last 11 games, and with the hosts still missing several key performers due to injury Arsenal to win at 8/5 with starsports.bet is tempting me.

Odegaard scored in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory in this fixture last season and already has six goals for club and country this term. Odegaard to score at any time is 3/1 with starsports.bet.

🔴 SHEFFIELD UNITED v WOLVES 🟠

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

Wolves have quietly been putting together a very good run under Gary O’Neil.

Last weekend’s entertaining 2-2 draw against Newcastle at Molineux means Wanderers are now five games unbeaten and they could have beaten the Magpies but for a very dubious penalty award against them.

In contrast, Sheffield United are officially the worst team in Premier League history after 10 games having picked up just a single point so far to leave manager Paul Heckingbottom at the head of the sack race odds.

Wolves will be poorer for the absence of star man Pedro Neto, who will be out for the next few weeks with a hamstring injury, but should still have enough to add another three points on their tally.

Hee-Chan Hwang has been one of the unsung heroes of the season so far and only four players have scored more Premier League goals than the Korean.

Hwang to score the first goal is 5-1 with starsports.bet and he will also be part of my price-boosted anytime goalscorer treble.
