ALEX CROOK PREVIEW: Man City v Tottenham

talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent ALEX CROOK previews the feature of the weekend MAN CITY v SPURS at the Etihad at 4.30pm …

Premier League
Sunday 4.30pm

Manchester City host Tottenham at the Etihad this afternoon in what looks the game of the Premier League weekend.

City come into it in brilliant form and are unbeaten in eight games since losing 1-0 at title rivals Arsenal, a defeat that seems to have sharpened their minds, and they have extra incentive for the victory to close the gap at the summit after the Gunners were four points clear by beating Wolves 2-1 on Saturday.

A few weeks ago, this looked like a potential top of the table showdown but injury-hit Tottenham have fallen away after losing their last three games, all despite taking the lead.

With the only recently returning Rodrigo Bentancur joining key duo James Maddison and Micky van de Ven in the treatment room, it is hard to make any kind of case for anything other than a convincing home victory.

You have to go back to before last year’s World Cup in Qatar for the last time City lost at home so it is no surprise they are heavy odds-on favourites to win. I think you can increase those odds by backing Manchester City to win and both teams to score at 5/4 with

Strangely City have struggled for clean sheets this season, with just three shutouts in their last 17 games in all competitions while Spurs have scored in every game under Postecoglu.

All eyes will be on Erling Haaland to see if he can extend his incredible scoring record after becoming the quickest player in premier League history to reach a half century of goals by netting in last weekend’s 1-1 draw at home to Liverpool.

But he is a little short in the goalscoring markets for me, so I am focusing on one of Haaland’s teammates instead.

Jeremy Doku (pictured below) has defied the belief that it takes at least a season for new signings to find the feet in a Pep Guardiola side and the fleet-footed Belgian has hit the ground running, literally, in the Premier League.

With Spurs not at full strength defensively and Postecoglu determined to keep playing with a high line I fancy Doku to have a field day.

Doku to score the first goal is 6/1 with and I’ll also be putting Doku to score at any time in my Build-a-Bet along with City to win, over 2.5 goals in the game and Yves Bissouma to be shown a card, which returns around 6/1 with

Good luck,
