ALEX CROOK PREVIEW: Premier League Final Gameweek

Star Sports ambassador ALEX CROOK looks ahead to the final weekend of the Premier League season…

TOTTENHAM v EVERTON

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

Who would have thought at the start of the season it would come down to this?

When Tottenham thrashed Burnley 3-0 on the opening weekend in Thomas Frank’s first game in charge there was hope of a bright new era at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Fast forward 37 games and three managers later and Spurs have to get at least a point at home to Everton to ensure they avoid the humiliation of being relegated to the Championship.

If Spurs lose and West Ham beat Leeds, which is far from a foregone conclusion based on recent form, then they can look forward to trips to Lincoln and Cardiff next season.

One big factor in the hosts’ favour is that Everton can no longer qualify for Europe so their players have a lot less to play for.

But having not won at home in the league in 2026, it promises to be a pressure-cooker atmosphere.

Everton are winless in six and have a poor record in this fixture. They also lost when the two met at Hill Dickinson Stadium earlier in the season.

Nothing would be more ‘Spursy’ than to lose to a team with nothing to play for to put their long-suffering fans through the wringer.

They are not the best at defending set pieces and Everton have a lot of aerial prowess so James Tarkowski to score at any time at 12/1 with starsports.bet is decent value in my eyes.

WEST HAM v LEEDS

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

West Ham’s only hope of salvuatio is they win at Tottenham lose.

The Hammers looked down and out after last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at Newcastle, but Spurs losing at Chelsea on Tuesday has given them a second chance.

However, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have run out of steam at the wrong time having lost each of their last three games and they are up against a Leeds side second only to Manchester City in the latest Premier League form table.

Daniel Farke’s side are unbeaten in their last eight games and seem determined to end the season on a positive note.

They can also play with freedom in stark contrast to the home team, whose fans will be a bag of nerves at the prospect of their 14-year stint in the top-flight coming to a crashing halt.

Leeds have already won at London Stadium in the FA Cup and it would be no surprise to see Farke’s in-form outfit prevail here.

However, given only Bournemouth (17) have drawn more games than West Ham (14) backing draw/Leeds at 21/20 with starsports.bet seems the more sensible play.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST v BOURNEMOUTH

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

Bournemouth can look forward to a first ever European campaign on the back of Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at home to Manchester City.

That result, as well as ending City’s faint title hopes, saw the Cherries extend their club record unbeaten Premier League run to 17 games.

They know another draw at the City Ground on Sunday will guarantee a sixth-place finish, which would be enough for a Champions League spot if Aston Villa lose at Manchester City and Liverpool beat Brentford.

If all the stars align it will be the perfect way for Cherries boss Andoni Iraola to bow out, although he may wake up on Monday morning regretting his decision to leave.

It has been a turbulent campaign for Forest, but they are no longer in any relegation danger and may not be as motivated as their visitors.

Morgan Gibbs-White can count himself very unlucky not to be included in England’s World Cup squad after enjoying arguably the best season of his career.

I can see Gibbs-White wanting to prove a point to Thomas Tuchel so my build-a-bet is Bournemouth to win and both Gibbs-White and the Cherries’ teenage sensation Junior Kroupi to score which returns 11/1 with starsports.bet.

BRIGHTON v MANCHESTER UNITED

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

Brighton need Bournemouth to lose to stand any chance of leapfrogging them into the top six.

Whatever happens in Nottingham, Fabian Hurzeler’s in-form side may have to win to secure some form of European football as a loss or draw opens the door for Brentford, Chelsea and Sunderland to finish above them.

United are one of only three teams along with champions Arsenal and runners-up Liverpool guaranteed to finish the final day where they started in the table having wrapped up third place.

Michael Carrick will want a positive result to mark signing a permanent two-year contract, but has hinted he will rotate his team to give fringe players the chance to impress.

That should play into Brighton’s hands and the Seagulls have a terrific record against United, winning eight of their previous 17 meetings and five of their previous eight at the Amex Stadium.

Danny Welbeck, another player overlooked by England boss Thomas Tuchel, loves a goal against his former club so I am backing Welbeck to score at any time at 21/20 with starsports.bet.
