ALEX CROOK PREVIEW: Premier League Weekend

Star Sports ambassador ALEX CROOK looks ahead to the weekend Premier League games…

LEEDS v BURNLEY
Friday, 8pm

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

Leeds have the chance to rubber-stamp Premier League survival when they host already-relegated Burnley at Elland Road on Friday.

Daniel Farke’s men may have disappointed in last week’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea at Wembley, but Daniel Farke’s men are unbeaten in five games in the Premier League, leaving them with a healthy six-point cushion to the bottom three.

The Yorkshiremen need one more victory to be absolutely sure of staying up and this feels like a golden opportunity to put three points on the board.

Burnley parted company with manager Scott Parker this week after a dismal run of just one win in their last 25 games. In truth the Clarets have been as uncompetitive this season as they were last time they graced the top-flight under Vincent Kompany.

Barring any new manager bounce from interim boss Mike Jackson it is hard to make a case for anything other than a home victory, especially given how well Leeds tend to perform under the lights in front of their own supporters.

My best bet of the weekend is Leeds to win and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to score at 2/1 with starsports.bet.

ARSENAL v FULHAM
Saturday, 5.30pm

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

It is a quick turnaround for Arsenal as they host Fulham at the Emirates on Saturday teatime only 72 hours after an incident packed 1-1 draw at Atletico Madrid in their Champions League semi-final.

However, with title rivals Manchester City not in action until Monday there is a massive incentive for the Gunners to stretch their lead at the top to six points, albeit, having played two games more.

The north Londoners regain their place at the summit with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at home to Newcastle last weekend, ending around of four straight domestic defeats.

Even though they were far from their fluent best either against the Magpies or in the Spanish capital, you have to back Mikel Arteta’s men given they have conceded. just eleven times on their own patch all season.

Fulham are not exactly prolific so I am predicting a low-scoring Gunners triumph against the team who have never won on Arsenal soil in 32 previous league visits.

Arsenal to win and under 2.5 goals in the game returns 2/1 with starsports.bet.

MANCHESTER UNITED v LIVERPOOL
Sunday, 5.30pm

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

Historically, Manchester United against Liverpool has been the most watched game in domestic football.

While Sunday’s clash between England’s two most decorated clubs is not as significant for either team as in previous seasons it can have a big say in the race for Champions League football.

After their remarkable upturn under the stewardship of Michael Carrick, United need just two points from their final four matches to be guaranteed a top-five finish.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are also on course to salvage a seat at Europe’s top table from what overall has been a very disappointing season. The home side also have the added incentive of being able to do the double over their rivals from Merseyside for only the second time in the post Sir Alex Ferguson era.

Their thrilling last gasp victory at Anfield was a rare high point of Ruben Amorim’s disastrous tenure and Carrick deserves huge credit for the way he has calmly but confidently turned the Red Devils’ fortunes around.

United’s home record under their former midfield general is particularly impressive with the recent defeat to Leeds the only blemish.

The hosts are also boosted by the return from injury of Matheus Cunha, who was sensational in the reverse fixture at Anfield and I think he can inspire Carrick’s troops to another memorable triumph.

Cunha is a big-game player and is 11/2 with starsports.bet to score the first goal.

EVERTON v MANCHESTER CITY
Monday, 8pm

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

Manchester City could be six points behind Arsenal by the time they kick off the final game of the weekend at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday.

Pep Guardiola’s treble chasers could be facing David Moyes’ Toffees at a good time of the season with the hosts having won just once in their last five matches.

Everton went down to a late Callum Wilson goal at West Ham last week and their quest for a European place appears to be petering out.

City are bidding for a fourth straight win as they look to prevail in a title race that looks certain to go down to the wire.

In fact, Guardiola’s side have won every game since beating the Gunners in the EFL Cup final in March and, as so often in the Spaniard’s trophy-laden tenure, appear to be peaking at just the right time.

Guardiola was also able to rest the likes of Erling Haaland, Bernardo Silva, Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo to the bench as they overcame a dogged Southampton in last Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final.

I fancy a fully refreshed City to claim the win they need to keep the destiny of the championship in their own hand.

My build-a-bet is City to win the first half, Bernardo Silva to score and under 2.5 Everton goals which returns 8.5/1 with starsports.bet.
