ALEX CROOK PREVIEW: Premier League Weekend

Star Sports ambassador ALEX CROOK looks ahead to the weekend Premier League fixtures, and puts up another ALEX ACCA…

LIVERPOOL v CHELSEA
Saturday, 12.30pm

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

It has been a disappointing season for both these big guns, but Liverpool at least have the chance to secure their place in the Champions League with Victory at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime. The champions’ mini revival came to a crashing end as they lost 3-2 to arch rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford, a result that in truth flattered Arne Slot’s side.

Chelsea, meanwhile, slumped to a sixth successive Premier League defeat as they were thrashed 3-1 at home by a Nottingham Forest reserve team on Monday.

The managerless Blues have not lost seven League games in a row since way back in 1952 so no wonder many of their fans are at the end of their tether with this current group of players.

Even with an FA Cup Final against Manchester City to look forward to at the end of the month, it is no longer a question of whether Chelsea can finish in the top five, but rather if they will be playing any European football at all next season.

Injury-depleted Liverpool have won the last two meetings between the pair at Anfield and should fancy themselves to make it three in a row.

Missing Mo Salah, Hugo Ekiteke and potentially Alexander Isak, I am backing captain Virgil van Dijk to show his goal-scoring prowess. You can back van Dijk at 6/1 with starsports.bet to score at any time.

MANCHESTER CITY v BRENTFORD
Saturday, 5.30pm

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

The Premier League title race took another Unexpected turn as Manchester City were held to a thrilling 3-3 draw at Everton on Monday.

Those two dropped points mean City could win all four of their remaining games and still miss out on top spot.

They will have to recover quickly from the setback on Merseyside when they welcome a Brentford side who themselves have eyes on a first ever European adventure next season.

It cannot be underestimated how good a job Bees boss Keith Andrews has done to pilot the West Londoners to 7th in the table after stepping into the not-inconsiderable shoes of Thomas Frank last Summer and losing many top players to boot.

The Bees will be dangerous opponents for a City side who simply cannot afford any more slip ups.

The big positive for Guardiola is that City are unbeaten at the Etihad since their first home game of the season against Tottenham.

I am backing City to be leading at half time, as they often do, at 3 / 4 with starsports.bet.

WEST HAM v ARSENAL
Sunday, 4.30pm

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

Arsenal can take another huge step closer to their first League title in more than two decades when they travel to London rivals West Herm on Sunday.

It has been a near perfect week for the Gunners with nearest challengers Manchester City dropping points at Everton, and then Mikel Arteta’s men booking their place in a first Champions League final in 20 years by beating Atletico Madrid at home 24 hours later.

West Ham, meanwhile, know survival is no longer in their own hands after losing 3-0 at Brentford last weekend.

The Irons have now lost three of their last six games so the mood around London Stadium is likely to be one of pessimism rather than optimism.

They have also lost three of their last four meetings with Arsenal, including a heavy defeat in this fixture last season.

It is hard to make a case for anything other than another three points for Arteta’s double chasers.

The return to fitness of Bukayo Saka at a key time of proceedings has been a massive boost for Arteta and he delivered for us in mid-week.

But I am going to lean on the curse of the ex by backing Arsenal to win, over 8.5 corners in the game and Declan Rice to score on his old stomping ground at 10/1 with starsports.bet.

TOTTENHAM v LEEDS
Monday, 8pm

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

Who would have thought this time last week that Tottenham could be four points clear of the relegation places if they beat Leeds at home on Monday.

It has been a long wait between drinks, but Spurs finally picked up their first league victory of 2026 by beating already-relegated Wolves and then following that up with victory over a distracted Aston Villa last weekend.

Roberto de Zerbi’s rejuvenated team are hoping for a favor from north London rivals Arsenal at West Ham 24 hours before they play.

But with Leads now effectively safe on 43 points, this feels like another huge opportunity for a side who looked doomed a matter of weeks ago.

Spurs home form has been a cause for concern all season, and the main factor in them struggling so badly.

You have to go as far back as early December and victory over Brentford for the last time Tottenham fans toasted Victory on their own patch.

I think that long winless run will be over this weekend, with Leeds no longer in danger of going down.

Tottenham to win and Richarlison to score at 2.88/1 with starsports.bet looks very backable to me.
