B Dortmund v Real Madrid

STAR EVENT: B Dortmund v Real Madrid
Champions League Semi-Final
TIME: 7.45pm
TV: SKY

It’s just like London buses. A follow-up winner for the column at Punchestown yesterday – our recommendation Moyle Park winning the bumper at 7/4.

It was a hard fought three quarters of a length success but Star Sports pay out on what wins and not how far.

We’ll be back at Punchestown later in the week but we must pay due attention to the second Champions League semi-final tonight and after last night what surely could have the potential of an all-German final at Wembley.

Barcelona’s 4-0 defeat at the hands of Bayern astonished most of us – even if inept refereeing (yet again) gifted them at least one, possibly two goals. But don’t get me started on that rant again. Check out the “Suarez and Friends” blog.

Barcelona, for our money, never looked up for it. They were jaded throughout. Perhaps just nothing more than the affects of a long hard season and the constant expectation on their (and in particular Messi’s) shoulders for 3-0, 4-0, 5-0 wins whenever and whoever they play. Even in his prime The Bank Of Roger Federer failed to pay out on rare occasions and the Bank Of Barcelona had their doors slammed firmly shut last night.

In the domestic Bundesliga, Bayern and Dortmund have dominated this season and Dortmund will look to build up an advantage to take to the Santiago Bernabรฉu Stadium for the return leg against Real Madrid.

Borussia Dortmund scrambled home against Malaga in a desperate finish in the quarter finals and will have to raise their game but we think on balance they’ll just edge a tight match.

These London buses… they do come along in three’s, don’t they?
