BEN KEITH’S BLOG: Get a grip Cammo!!
Blog, why isn’t David Cameron taking a firm grip of this firemen’s strike tonight?
What a disgustingly cynical and evil effort from the firemen, striking over bonfire/firework weekend. This must be THE hot-spot of the year, when they are called into action and required to work.
Another example, of yet more of our ‘society’ (do excuse me, I always have to wipe my mouth after uttering that fowl word), who seem to continually think they are due more and are above cutting their cloth accordingly, like the rest of us, in the modern age. Oh diddums, your light working hours (that you’re able to work round, doing cash-in-hand jobs on the side) might get affected. You might have to work beyond fifty five (go on, milk the whole thing about having to lift people). And your incredible public-sector wage-slave pensions look like they might be brought back into line with everyone else.
Cammo, let ’em have an evening off on strike. Just this once. Let them think that they’re rrreeeaaalllyyy clever and in control of the situation. See that they’re met though during their night out. Met by tear gas, police with truncheons, and hungry alsatians, and that when they leave, they never want to try out this little trick…EVER again…
In other news:
I took the Elderly and Infirm out for dinner tonight. They were both fairly non-committal about what we’d have, so I opted for a Chinese, and we made our way out to an old favourite; The Bramber Dragon.
Oh, Blog, I knew immediately. My heart sunk and shoulders dropped.
It had changed hands.
They’d run out of prawn crackers (how ACTUALLY does that happen in a Chinese restaurant??).
The menu, that used to have a full Thai section, had been dramatically cut back.
When the starters eventually came, they were almost dry, so little sauce had been added.
And when the mains came out, I had to dial 999 IMMEDIATELY, Blog. Even the Female Dept of the Elderly and Infirm said there wasn’t enough served up. This was clearly an emergency for the Portions Police to deal with. I think I was able to see the Chicken and Cashew Nuts on the plate, and to be fair, it tasted good, but dear me, there wasn’t nearly enough of it. Which is a shame, as the previous owners/chef were never guilty in this department.
I shall report back over the weekend and find some good news for you.
