BEN’S BLOG: ‘A Luvvie free Arts Club’
[dropcap]W[/dropcap]hen I was recently invited for dinner, at The Arts Club, I had visions of drowning, whilst completely out of my depth, amongst the company of the luvvie-elite. However, on arrival, this fear was immediately put to rest, as it was obvious, that The AC, is a hang-out, for super-wealthy Russians and Israelis, and lots of the local spoilt hedge-fund people.
I must say though; what a gaff. A cross between Scott’s and Cecconnis, the bar/restaurant oozed class, and the food was excellent too; with the black cod, and then the apple-tart, taking the star roles.
The Arts Club, 40 Dover Street, W1. (WEB SITE) Don’t worry – there aren’t any Arties there (at Β£2k a year, membership, and Β£180 for 2 (not including booze!)β even ones with rich mummies and daddies can’t afford it!) Service lacking a yard of pace, with starters appearing 10 minutes apart. The apple-tart was the best I’ve eaten in London. Crumpet galore! 8.5
