BEN’S BLOG: ‘Facebookers, put your phones away for just one moment, please!’
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]his evening, Blog, we made our way out, into the pretty little port, of Corralejo, and enjoyed a delicious fish supper. Over dinner though, we also got chatting to an Irish couple sitting next to us, and by bizarre coincidence, they were family of our Irish barrister, Johnnie McCoy.
Anyway, I digress. After dinner, we all headed off for a drink in the nearby square, to listen to some music. Once we had ordered, there was a sudden and huge thudding sound, that came from the other side of the square. A poor man had collapsed, spark out, smashed his head on the concrete, and lay with blood pouring everywhere. In a rush, several diners went over and assisted him. He was out cold, looking in a terrible state, and everybody thought he was dead. An ambulance was called as the drama ensued.
I looked over to my right, and was even more shocked to see that a horrible little Facebooker, WAS VIDEOING IT ALL! WHY would someone need to do that? Can their flock of ‘friends’ not do without seeing these disastrous moments being played out, possibly the last, of that man? Facebookers, please have some respect, and put your photo/video phones away, for just a few seconds!!
In other news:
Fuerteventura has beautiful beaches, friendly residents, and restaurant after restaurant serving up delicious fresh fish. BUT it seems to be an island that has failed. There is a very small population, under 100,000 we are told, and all seems a bit unfinished. The answer is on everyone’s breath the whole time. It seems as if no one is able to finish a sentence without mentioning it…. The Wind. And not just that unrelenting one coming from my backside. There is an endless breeze that becomes quite irritating after sometime, has imposed itself on everyone, and has just stopped everything getting going. How sad. Would I recommend a visit? The jury is still out, but at this current time, Star Sports are quoting around the 2/7 mark, Tenerife, in a match-bet, I’m afraid. I shall report back though, my faithful Blog.
