BEN’S BLOG: ‘Glorious Goodwood: And Who are You?’

[dropcap]S[/dropcap]ome people are convinced that I actually know something about anything. They are wrong. Included in my vast lack of knowledge; is who famous people are.

I once attended a client’s birthday party. After a while, I struck up conversation with a grey-headed man, who appeared to be in his late 40’s. I asked him what he did for a living and he informed me “I am the Scotland football-captain.”. I simply guffawed and ridiculed his claim by replying ” Oh, yes! And I’m the Holland captain too!!”. It was, in fact; David Weir.

In our box at Royal Ascot one year, the jockey Mick Kinane came in. Excitedly, I jumped out of my seat, ran around the box telling all The Punters we had this world famous horseman in tow, and then had a chat with Mr Kinane himself. Mr Kinane did inform me, after about 10 minutes though, that he was actually a Mr Mick Fitzgerald.

Anyway, yesterday at GG, I bumped into our marketing guru; Bill Esdaile. Alongside him, stood a slightly unshaven, young looking blonde lad. Obviously, a new graduate on Bill’s firm, eh, Blog? “Oh, have you started working for Bill..?” . Bill hurriedly spoke over me saying “Ben, Ben, please meet the Kent cricket-captain …….”.

I AM CLUELESS..!

In other news:

India Gate, 14 St Pancras, Chichester, PO19 7SJ WEB SITE. Oh, we do miss Masala Gate, a few doors down, that closed. This place; not a patch on it. Were simply not prepared for a big crowd (despite receiving a week’s notice). Not properly puffed-up Naan Breads. But an excellent Vegetable Korma was doing the rounds. An adequate 6.5
