BEN’S BLOG: ‘I love the Computer People!’

[dropcap]M[/dropcap]yself and Star MD, Gaul Wood, made our way over today, to the ever gentrified Bermondsey, for a meeting with our favourite Computer People in the whole World: Grand Parade. We have actually managed to find the only Daleks, we have ever met, who produce what they say they will, when they will, at the price quoted. Added to this, they’re actually very pleasant and most agreeable human beings too (that even force-feed us strawberries and Danish Pastries. Always the quick way to my heart!).

Very soon, Star will have a HUGE announcement for our merry band of Punters. Watch this space…!

In other news:

CHARADES AT THE SHARD

On the way back to HQ, we jumped in a black cab. The driver told us that we were lucky, as just twenty minutes later, the London black-cab-drivers were all meeting near The Shard, to go on strike (and impose themselves on everyone else in the area). This is due to the new building having a rank for mini-cabs but not black-cabs.

In all of London, I cannot think of anywhere else, where there is a rank for mini-cabs and it actually made me think the following about London black-cab drivers:

1. You get a set 5% rise on fares every year and more when the petrol goes up. Who else works to 5% inflation in this day and age?
2. You get extra for evenings.
3. And for Saturdays.
4. Even more for Sundays.
5. And again for Bank Holidays (despite all of your union-benefits, you are supposedly self-employed, so no one’s forcing you to go out to work are they?).
6. No one can compete with you. It is a cartel with fixed prices.
7. London have slowed every other driver down, including of course the mini-cabs, by taking one of their lanes away and giving it to you; a taxi and bus lane. This is a huge (and I would say unfair) advantage to your industry.
8. Your trade is regularly tipped and make an unlucky-face when given the correct money.

And you actually want it EVEN MORE your own way? Get back to work, and get out of everyone else’s way!!
