BEN’S BLOG: ‘I think it’s stopped chasing the hare…!’
Thanks go, to Lewis Brown, and his wonderful family, for taking me out, for a birthday-dinner. I’m such a high-maintenance diva, it took two months to organise; but was well worth the wait.
When I got my first pitch, it was at Oxford Dogs. I was 20 years of age, and I bet next to Lewis’ grandad; Ray. A true character, when he’d laid a dog, that the whole track had backed with him, should it be absolutely tailed off as they crossed the line, he would shout out into the crowd; ‘It’s a photo..!’. And if the creature was genuinely beaten in a photo, Mr Brown would add to proceedings, at the top of his voice; ‘I think it’s stopped chasing the hare..!’.
Come on, Ray. It’s nasty to give Punters the rub-down. THEY’RE SUCH NICE PEOPLE.
In other news:
Barbecoa, β20 New Change Passage, EC4M 9AG. (RESTAURANT WEB SITE) Jamie Oliver’s latest creation. Huge, and suited to groups only really, but still manages to be pretty swish. Great service. And good food. Make sure the pork-scratchings and delicious apple-dip are included in all perms. Lewis paid, so I can’t comment on the price..! 7.5
My tummy looks enormous in this photo..!!
Over and out, B x
