BEN’S BLOG: ‘It takes two to make a bet’

ben_keith_team-150x150jimc[dropcap]T[/dropcap]here is a journalist that knows more about the betting industry than any other. His name is Jim Cremin (left). Today, in Betting Window (highlight of the week in the RP), Jim reports that punters are moaning about having their accounts closed after having losing bets, and that they also believe bookmakers are exchanging information.

Err, Jim, so what?

When betting at the dogs, I would ALWAYS compare my tissue prices with other bookies to check I wasn’t out of line.

If I’m worried about a new account, on a credit or shrewd level, I would ALWAYS do my own due-diligence.

And, if a punter had losing bets, that shortened from 8s into 4s, I’d ALWAYS close him without thinking. I’m obviously not going to beat him, am I?!

Punters have got Oddschecker, Betfair, all the stats in the world and forums to discuss and compare particular bookmakers’ weaknesses, so why shouldn’t the bookies graft together and do the best for themselves too? IT TAKES TWO TO MAKE A BET.

In other news:

High-Fives to all the kids at the London Academy of Excellence, in Stratford, who achieved straight A’s in their A-levels and have got in to Oxford or Cambridge. Thank God, we see, for once, the billions that Star Racing Ltd have paid in betting-tax, going to something useful! What can be better, than giving young people, from the poorest area of London, a chance to better themselves in life? Let’s hope though, that Labour don’t get in, and either close the school, or, out of spite and jealousy, re-fill it with some attention-seeking divs. GIVE THE TRIERS A CHANCE.
