BEN’S BLOG: ‘Jack Lander for Champion Jockey!’
Β [dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Starship spent last week at Lords. And what a fantastic week it was too, taking everybody’s bets, and just being part of such a great and prestigious occasion. Hang on, Hang on, Blog, I’m not making some kind of fawning corporate announcement; I genuinely mean it! We caught up with so many friends of Star, and the business was surprisingly brisk too, with many interesting Puntery-types in attendance.
One such guest, was Chris Mace. Who is Chris? Well, he’s actually a successful Kiwi greyhound-trainer (right), who came to say ‘Hi’. He told me, that he trains his dogs in a place called Tauranga, that there are 6 tracks in New Zealand (Tote only – boohhh), and the best dog he’s ever trained is Gypsy Joker (an NZ Derby finalist, no less, Blog!).
GREAT TO MEET YOU, CHRIS. BUT WHY DIDNT YOU BRING THE DOG OVER TO RACE IN THE ENGLISH DERBY? (ON NOW!!).
In other news:
Right then, the Star Family needs to get behind a budding little Not-Staff; 9 year old, Jack Lander. Nevermind playing boring computer-games, Jack’s decided that he wants to be a jockey (and has the target of riding in the Grand National, by the time he’s 18), but to support his colleagues to be, he is doing a 57 mile hike, to raise money for the Injured Jockeys Fund.
THIS is a GREAT achievement for a boy of his age. THIS is a feat that deserves ALL of our appreciation and support.
I hope to see all of you moaning, freebie-loving-Punters, giving something back; and sponsoring him. I’LL BE WATCHING, YOU TIGHT-WADS.
Watch and learn, all of you wet adults! Jack Lander = The youngest Not-Staff EVER. MARCH ON, JACK.
