BEN’S BLOG: ‘Lunch with Lord Mendelsohn’

[dropcap]B[/dropcap]log, I must let you know, what an important person I am, having been invited today (along with David Garbacz), to the House of Lords, by Lord Mendelsohn‎.

And what a nice chap Jon is too. We enjoyed an intriguing tour, and then a full three-courser – all courtesy of the good Lord. He even showed-off afterwards, by letting us watch him, (from the gallery, with all the peasants), as he entered the House, and sprung into political action!

During the grub, Jon being a business and betting-stuff, type of Lord, asked me, what would help the betting-industry. I replied thus:

1) All of the Corporate-People, and everyone ever connected with Betfair, to be put on top of a bonfire, alongside Guy Fawkes, at Cheltenham Racecourse, this November.
2) Wimbledon Dogs to be kept open, at all possible costs.
3) Nick Rust to be given Barry Hearn/Bernie Ecclestone, dictator powers, to run the betting and racing industry, exactly how he wishes. This endless, listening to everyone’s opinions, ‘6 of one, half a dozen of the other’, doesn’t get anyone anywhere.

It really was a fantastic afternoon, to remember for many years to come, and thanks go to Jon, from myself and David.
