BEN’S BLOG: ‘No Scouser bashing going on at Star Sports…!’
[dropcap]I[/dropcap] thought I’d check in with you, Blog, having now finished the first day at Aintree.
I have to say, that I am delighted with the pitch, on every level.
The local Punterites are all, not only very friendly in their dealings, and also amenable when you ask them if they want to open an account; but they certainly have a few quid on too. The average bet is up there with Cheltenham, and definitely higher than Royal Ascot or Glorious Goodwood. They are like dog-track Punters: Very few £2.50ew’s and Fivers, but instead; lots of £40’s, £80’s, and plenty of decent Punters not messing about, and having a few hundred quid or even more on.
We’ve been out, the last two nights in the city centre, as well. And I can only repeat my experience at the racecourse; a really friendly bunch of people. Most welcoming and hospitable. What a beautiful city, full of such character, Liverpool really is. NO SCOUSER BASHING GOING ON HERE…!
In other news:
The Italian Fish Club, 128 Bold St, Liverpool Chinatown, L1 4JA. I’ve dug up a cracker for you here, Blog. Excellent starters, with the calamari really standing out. A superb selection of mains and accompanying sides (although my Lemon Sole was one of the smallest Lemon Soles ever to have left the sea). Friendly (but rather slow) service. And a most pleasant venue itself. £155 inc service for 4, (no desserts taken part in!), so certainly not cheap for the area. One to check out though. 7.5
Over and out, B x
