BEN’S BLOG: ‘The Community of Greyhound Racing and Guantanamo Bay Group Socialising’.
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]hanks go to Phil Donaldson, for his kind article in today’s Racing Post. Do you know the Donaldson family, Blog? They bet, for generations, at Wimbledon Dogs, under the name of ‘Hall’, before Phil’s dad retired.
The sense of community and togetherness is far stronger in Greyhound Racing than in our big-brother at the Horses. Less snobbery, competitiveness and Establishment Wallies to deal with. And Phil is a classic dog-racing man. YOU GET EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN.
In other news:
Greetings from my Guantanamo Bay Enforced Group Socialising session in Reinosa, Spain. Yesterday, when the pain was at its worst, something occurred to me: You know that sometimes wedding-invites are just for the evening only, as if that’s the lucky bit to get to go to? Well, I’d quite like to have a service-only invite. I love to see how much it means to, and the looks in the eyes and emotions, of all of those concerned. I enjoy the ceremony and ceremony itself. The decor and style of church, registry-office or synagogue, where it’s all taking place. It’s the endless pleasantries with people you have never met before, will never meet again, and have absolutely nothing in common with; THAT DOES MY HEAD IN.
Over and out, B x
