BEN’S BLOG: ‘The good, the bad, and the ugly’
[dropcap]G[/dropcap]ood evening, Blog! I have come out to Tenerife, for a bit of pre-Cheltenham, intensity and stress relief. Accompanied by Belindabelle, and The Elderly and Infirm, my father has purchased a Rolex from a ‘Looky Looky Man’, I have had a dip in the sea today, and my mum’s been wearing her legendary swimming hat. Life is good.
HOWEVER, I booked last minute, and unfortunately, was unable to secure my usual; a flat, for the week, in Port Royal, at the back of Los Cristianos. Normally, about €450, for the week, and always superb.
Instead, I signed-up, at over double the price, with HG Cristian Sur.
And it is not only a rip-off, but also a disgrace.
- €20 extra for a television remote-control. ??!!
- Guantanamo Bay level furnishings.
- A daily clean but to a student standard.
- A tenner to hire a bloody iron!!
- No washing-machine.
- No lights in the living-room.
- Noisy Drongo karaoke music at night.
All yours, at just €1,100, for the week. BARGAIN.
In other news:
The “Overseas”, in Los Cristianos, just gets better and better and better. It’s a pleasure to see, an establishment that works so hard, doing so well. They get EVERYTHING right: Hot plates. Iced glasses. Immaculate bogs. Meaty ribs, not the sloppy rubbish, so often served up. Attentive service, from well presented Staff. Smooth ambience. An all round, military and top-notch performance.
Overseas, Avenida San Fransisco 6, Los Cristianos, Tenerife. Boxes right up there, with the likes of Princess Garden (W1). And at €105 for 4 (a third of the price, of the aforementioned), represents remarkable value. Now my favourite Chinese anywhere. Booking essential. THE BEST LEMON CHICKEN ON PLANET EARTH. 9
Over and out, B x
