BEN’S BLOG: ‘The Hurricane’
[dropcap]I[/dropcap] have gone back in time this week, Blog. When I was 19, I worked in Gibralter, and on days-off (no such gratuities allowed now, as a member of the self-employed!), would make my way, along the coast, to Tarifa. I always promised myself, that I would revisit the Hurricane Hotel, after walking through it, during those happy memories.
Well now is that time. And you should come and check it out too. The whole place, has a relaxing and almost mystical atmosphere, as if it’s stuck in time. Should Agatha Christie, have written a Spanish, murder who dunnit, it would have been set here.
Encased and protected, from the wind, by palm trees all around. An excellent restaurant, serving both a superb breakfast (why do so many places just NOT get it right? How hard can it be??), and also proper, restaurant standard dinner (no drab buffet rubbish, and at €28 for 2 courses; great value). Two pools; one family, one quiet (and big ones, that you can do lengths in too). Fresh and clean rooms. And steps that lead down to the untouched beach… What more do you actually want for €112 a night?
Over and relaxingly out, B x
