BEN’S BLOG: “Wallies for sale!”
[dropcap]B[/dropcap]log, I write bearing good news. We read, earlier this year, in the Racing Post, that bookmaker, Ted Hegharty said it has never been busier, in the ring, at Shelbourne Park. This is great news for the game.
Well, I can report to you too; that business was superb, on Champions Day at Ascot, this Saturday just gone. Star were betting in both Tatts and on the Rails. I was working Tattersalls, and I can tell you, that it was most brisk, with a turnover of Β£27k. There was a non-stop queue, we were laying plenty of runners, and there were lots of monkey to grand bets flying about. If only it was like this every Saturday..! LONG LIVE THE RING..!!
In other news:
Vintage Salt, 189 Upper Street, Islington, N1 1RQ. (RESTAURANT LINK): I went right behind enemy-lines, into Corbynland last night, (bringing Star MD, Gaul Wood, along as cover), to check out this excellent fish restaurant. The first thing I saw on the menu though, was ‘Wally Β£1’. Gaul informed me, that ‘Wally’ is another word for a gherkin. If only we could sell some English wallies, for a quid a go, Blog..!!
Vintage Salt. The Staff were completely incompetent, and the music was far too loud… But the food was excellent. Don’t miss the squid starter. And the rice-pudding was a STEERING-JOB. Β£90 for 2. 8
Over and out, B x
