BEN’S BLOG: ‘We Will Rock You (surprisingly well actually)’

peachesben_keith_team-150x150[dropcap]P[/dropcap]eaches Geldof died of a heroin-overdose.  It’s now official.  However, after weeks of the politically-correct deliberating and entertaining non-druggie explanations, wasn’t that really just the certainty of all certainties?  I hope though, that she doesn’t turn into another Amy Winehouse martyr figure, who’s death has been continually milked, even by her own father, to promote his musical and self-publicity interests.  Bob Geldof has always appeared to be a true gent though, and I’m sure there won’t be any of that nonsense from him.

In other news:

When choosing a Chinese restaurant, I have always deemed that the quality of the spare-ribs, is the cornerstone of any selection.  Princess Garden, in North Audley Street, copped in the Best Ribs market long ago, but Young Cheung, in Lisle Street (off Leicester Square), certainly know what they’re doing too, with the little Mandarin style babies they serve up.  Young Cheung never disappoint; the service is good, and the typical China Town buzz, hypnotic.  They score an 8.  Could be an 8.5 though, come to think of it.

I have never been a fan of ‘Queen’, but was roped in, to go and see ‘We Will Rock You’, last night, for a family-fun occasion.  I went along to make a nice-face and win some brownie-points, expecting it to be a load of rubbish.  Wrong.  This was a great musical, that had a strong story-line, and was genuinely funny.  In short: the whole World has been taken over by Facebookers and Corporate People (I didn’t make that up!)…but there is one band of secret singers left…who can save us all…with the words to Bohemian Rhapsody!  Anyway, it ends on the 31st May, so if you want to see it, get on down there soon.  We Will Rock You was going to score a 7.5, but due to taking the piss out of Facebookers and Corporate People,  has been promoted immediately to an 8.

RIP Julian Wilson.
